MAYA HAIRCARE Review and Demo

I recently picked up this Styling Créme by the brand MAYA haircare. I met with the owner herself at the Beauty UK show where we chatted about the brand and the benefits. She instantly sold me and I knew I had to try it out for my daughters hair. I'm constantly looking for new products and I think i've tried about 20 different products in her hair . Some work great but don't last all day and some just don't work at all.

HAIRCARE STEPS TO SUCCESS
1. I washed her hair with our typical olive oil shampoo and conditioner
2. Before letting it dry I sectioned off her hair  into four and applied the product thoroughly through each strand .

The instructions say to use a PEA sized amount, but her hair literally soaks up moisture like a sponge. After washing it her hair was 40% dry before even towel drying it! so a pea sized amount just wasn't an option . I think I ended up using about 1/4 of the bottle throughout her hair so i think this bottle will only get me through 2-3 washes

3. I let her hair air dry which took about two hours .

4. Here is her hair when 90% dry . You can see there is major shrinkage which I was hoping wouldn't happen, but was completely expected.

SUPER SOFT!
Her hair is very very soft, softer than any other product i've used before , and 5 hours later it's still very soft .... did I mention its crazy soft?

DEFINED CURLS
I love how defined the curls are , although I would have preferred it to be more defined , but as I continue to use it I may come up with some kind of strategy to improve this. I'm positive the type of shampoo and conditioner I used played a major part in the curl definition.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

SMELL
This product smells great. It's got quite a sweet smell which is perfect. The last thing you need is your hair looking amazing but smells like trash! but not this product, it has a very appealing smell!

PACKAGING DESIGN
As a graphic designer you know I have to comment on the design! I think it looks fantastic! The black and gold gives off an elite and expensive feeling which is great! I want to put quality products in my hair not products that are made up of 90% water! The packaging design does a great job of making it appear expensive! .. not to mention it looks great on my haircare shelf!

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I think the product is a good fit for my daughters hair . I like the curl definition and will surely use it again. If I can find a shampoo and conditioner to reduce frizz that WORKS on her hair, I think this product may become my ultimate GO TO brand.

All Blown Out! | RUSH Hair Salon Birmingham Grand Opening

Yesterday was the Birmingham Grand opening of the London Famous Salon, RUSH. 

A Few weeks prior to the opening I was kindly asked to come along to the opening to review the salon with my honest thoughts and also to get my hair blow dried by one of the staff. I was skeptical at first because although I have never been to the salon before, I was very aware that they do not predominantly cater to afro hair.  However I thought there is no harm in trying since nothing drastic was going to happen to my hair.

Hair store picks of the week

I took a quick trip to my local beauty world and could not resist buying things lol 

I just got a new Brazilian weave and dyed it ombré . I was way to scared to do it on my own hair so I thaught a weave would be a great way to test it out . Ill probably do a post showing you guys what it looks like ... Anyway these are the things I purchased and I'm actually trying each one of these for the first time !! 

I have three deep conditioners . Apparently with Brazilian hair you have to keep it completely moisturized at all times  and you have to do a deep conditioner twice a week to keep its amazing softness ! So I thought I would try out a few different ones before I actually buy a full bottle of one.

I also purchased. Another hair lightening powder . I'm not fully satisfied with the color of y hair . I want the ends to be a bit blonder so I'm going to dye it a little bit more .

FROM BRUNETTE TO DUSTY BLONDE

I wanted a change for the new year. I've always had dark hair and i love it . At one point I had jet black , but my mom spent every waking moment telling me how much she hated how it looked on me. I personally loved it but hey we all can't win.
For 2013 I decided to go lighter, eventually I want to be a blonde but im doing it gradually.
